Superbowl!! Just a whisper of the word and anticipation starts! Christmas is barely over when the dreaming and scheming, plotting and planning starts!! This year will the the one! This year we will "out do"the outdoers, we will "out griswald" the Griswalds, this year on that most sacred, high holy day to all of the pigskin world we will be the best!! The game, the commercials, the halftime show, the food and the guests. So much to do, so little time! I imagine there are sane, organized people out there who think and plan, use checklists, calendars, and reminders to plot all of the details carefully to ensure, that they once again have pulled off the party of the year. However......
That would not be us!! Our planning went something like this: Devin said,"Hey, did you call the Kelsey's and see what they wanted us to bring to the Superbowl party besides our appetites?" Paula responded," sounds good to me, but the party has to be at your house, after all, you have "the house"!! Wardell boys chimed in...."Party at the Joneses?? Sweet!! Pool table, Big Screen, Popcorn Machine, wait!!! FOOD! will there be food there??? Oh of course, Mom's coming! Sunday arrived and what a day! Church in the morning, party in the afternoon. With only 3 cooks I was a little worried if we had enough food, after all a peanut butter sandwich after church does not cut it on Superbowl Sunday! (Not even with the promise of good food later on.) Paula got it right when she called it a "Pig Out Party"! The game was good, the food was better! The nominating committee would be proud to give us the award for " Best Pigskin Pig Out Party of the Year". With good food, good fun, and good friends it was great and we weren't even trying to out do the out doers, or out griswald the Griswalds, all we wanted to do is keep up with the Joneses!
